About the listing
For the first time, Torquay will host the electric UCI 1.1 Towards Zero Race Torquay. This is a chance to get up close to the most powerful sprinters as they smash 8 to 10 laps of this circuit race - 30 January 2020.
Starting and finishing on The Esplanade, the 13km circuit will follow a clockwise direction with the peloton racing along Bell Street before hitting the iconic Great Ocean Road, Duffields and Messmate Roads.
Race distances
- Elite women – 8 laps (104km)
- Elite men – 10 laps (130km)
- Each lap is expected to take between 15 and 20 minutes
Race times
- Elite women – 12 midday til around 2.45pm
- Elite men – 4.45pm til around 7.45 pm
You can expect fast and dynamic racing, with the riders guaranteed to be attacking as they punch over the two short climbs on the back of the circuit. The peloton then heads back via South Beach Road, and there’s a quick decent to Horseshoe Bend Road before hitting the finish line in the heart of Torquay.
